Shipping container conversions involve taking a container and turning it into a new usable space, whether that is for offices, secure storage, catering, retail or a number of other applications.


Both standard steel shipping containers and custom size containers can be converted, with the option to link multiple containers vertically and horizontally to create the size and shape space you need.

What is a Modular Container Conversion?

A modular container conversion involves using a single standard sized container, or linking multiple containers together vertically and horizontally, to create a whole new space.

 

These conversions are very versatile, with the option to link containers to create any shape space, added single and double doors, partitioning walls for separate rooms, windows and hatches.

What are standard shipping container sizes?

Shipping containers come in 3 standard sizes, 20ft x 8ft, 40ft x 8ft and high cube:

​

  • 20-foot container: This container is approximately 20 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 8 feet 6 inches tall (6.1 meters long, 2.44 meters wide, and 2.59 meters tall). It is the most common and versatile size, being used for overseas cargo shipping, storage and conversions.

​

  • 40-foot container: This container is approximately 40 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 8 feet 6 inches tall (12.19 meters long, 2.44 meters wide, and 2.59 meters tall). It provides twice the space of a 20-foot container and is often used for larger shipments or when more storage or space is required.

​

  • High cube container: Similar to the standard 20-foot or 40-foot container in width and height, high cube containers are 9 feet 6 inches tall (2.9 meters tall) instead of 8 feet 6 inches (2.59 meters), offering extra vertical space suitable for transporting or storing tall items.

Can non-standard sized containers be used for a conversion?

Yes! If one or multiple linked standard sized containers are not right for your conversion, we can fabricate containers in any length between 4ft and 45ft to act as the shell for your new space.

No, 20ft and 40ft container can be mixed and matched to create the size and shape space you want.

What colours do storage containers come in?

All of our containers, both standard and converted, can be painted in any RAL colour.
